short biographical notice of peter ganick
this site will feature words and pictures about art and literature by peter ganick. he has been involved in the poetry world since 1972 and has considered his main focus as abstract art since 2005.
in the hartford ct art world, he has won several awards including best in show at the 2012 west hartford art league annual show, a second place at the open studio hartford exhibit of 2013.
as a member of the west art league he has studied with paul zimmerman, hannah libman, ilona levitz and his wife, carol ganick. he lives in west hartford ct with carol and jolie, their boston terrier/boxer mix.
in previous years, he earned a bachelor of music composition degree at boston university in 1969, studued for a masters [incomplete] at brandeis and mass institute of technology studying with gardiner read, martin boykan, seymour shifrin, harold shapiro, piano with david barnett at the new england conservatory of music.
also in previous years, he made a detour into poetry, starting a publishing company, potes & poets press, a 501[c]3 corporation. publishing early work by many L=A=N=G=U=A=G=E poetry writers, including charles bernstein, ron silliman, carla harryman, ray dipalma, and many others.
later foci was to publish emerging writers, publishing many first books by deserving poets.
since 2008 his focus in poetry has been in writing and publishing a new type of literature, he and others call experimental literary texts, a movement with writers like sheila e. murphy, jukka-pekka kervinen, jim leftwich, billy bob beamer, and others.
now retired from 41 years as a local piano teacher he is concentrating mostly on painting, drawing and family concerns.
